Our Emergency First Aid at Work (Level 3) course is designed for those who have a specific responsibility at work. This course provides all the essential skills required to help businesses be safe and compliant.

Delivered over a three-day period this course provides your team with valuable, lifesaving skills to protect your workplace and the people you work with. Through a combination of theory and interactive hands-on practical training this course covers the following:

CPR, AED, choking, anaphylaxis, heart attacks, strokes, shock, seizures, diabetes, asthma, fainting, unresponsiveness, head and spinal injuries, fractures, wounds and bleeding, minor injuries, burns, scalds and more.

Ofqual certifications are also available for a small additional fee, just mention these requirements when booking your course.

Our Emergency Paediatric First Aid (Level 3) course is designed for anyone looking after people under 18 years old. This can include teachers, youth workers, sports coaches, parents and grandparents who want to learn those emergencies paediatric first aid skills.

This course is designed to meet the criteria set by the Department for Education’s EYFS Framework and provides valuable knowledge and skills which may be required in an emergency paediatric first aid situation. (In accordance with Ofsted and EYFS requirements the Paediatric First Aid course is designed for nurseries, childminders, and nannies).

Through a combination of theory and interactive hands-on practical training this one-day course covers the following emergency paediatric first aid situations:

CPR, AED, choking, shock, seizures, anaphylaxis, unresponsiveness, wounds and bleeding

This course can be upgraded to include adult emergency first aid at work certification if required. Ofqual certifications are also available for a small additional fee, just mention these requirements when booking your course. The good news is there no extra training time, and this can all be completed in one day at your location.

Our Paediatric First Aid (12-Hour) is designed for anyone looking after children, this includes nurseries, childminders, and nannies.

This two-day course provides the opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills needed to deal with a range of paediatric first aid situations. Through a combination of theory and interactive hands-on practical training this course covers the following:

CPR, AED, choking, meningitis, anaphylaxis, asthma, head and spinal injuries, unresponsiveness, wounds and bleeding and more.

This course can be upgraded to include adult emergency first aid at work certification if required. Ofqual certifications are also available for a small additional fee, just mention these requirements when booking your course. The good news is there no extra training time, and this can all be completed in one day at your location.

This course is designed to for those who require a basic understanding of first aid. This can include GP surgeries, NHS workers, dentistry, sports coaches and many other industries.

Delivered over a three-hour period this course aims to develop the knowledge and practical competencies needed to support an adult or child in an emergency until professional medical help arrives

Through a combination of theory and interactive hands-on practical training this course aims to develop the knowledge and covers the following:

CPR, AED, choking and the management of unresponsive casualty.

Pool Rescue Qualifications .

KH Training can assist you with a variety of qualifications from the Royal Lifesaving Society (RLSS) and Swimming Teachers Association (STA).

This Level 3 qualification is an excellent starting point for a career in the leisure industry. This NPLQ provides the opportunity to work as part of a team, varied hours of work and through completion of this the course it can also provide eight UCAS Tariff points. The NPLQ is the most awarded lifeguard qualification in the UK and Ireland and is also internationally recognised providing opportunities for work and travel.

Through a combination of theory and interactive hands-on practical training this course covers all elements of Pool Rescue Techniques, Lifeguarding Theory, First Aid and CPR.

However, the course is physically demanding and will include swimming to set times, lifting casualties and diving to the deepest part of the swimming pool. Training and assessment for the NPLQ are in three sections, and candidates must successfully pass all three areas to attain the qualification.

Due to the physical demands of this course prerequisites are as follows:

  • Jump/dive into deep water
  • Swim 50 metres in less than 60 seconds
  • Swim 100 metres continuously on front and back
  • In deep water, tread water for 30 seconds
  • Surface dive to the floor of the pool
  • Climb out of the pool unaided without ladder/steps and where the pool design permits

Candidates must be 16 years old or above at the time of taking the NPLQ final assessment.

NRASTC is a supervision and rescue award for swimming teachers, coaches and (or) instructors working during programmed activities, such as swimming lessons. This award it is suitable for teachers working in a wide range of swimming pools where the water depth is higher than the teachers’ standing depth and meets the individual facility’s Risk Assessment. If the facility has qualified lifeguards or first aiders available to respond quickly to a swimming teacher or coach in an emergency, you could also consider a NRASTC Light.

This qualification is delivered over 12 hours (two days), the knowledge and skills and assessed formally by an external assessor at the end of the course.

Through a combination of theory and interactive hands-on practical training this course covers the following topics:

  • The teacher, swimming pool, and class management
  • Intervention rescue
  • Emergency action
  • CPR and First Aid

Due to the physical demands of this course prerequisites are as follows:

  • Swim a minimum of 50 metres on your front and back
  • Surface dive to the deepest part of the pool
  • Climb out of the pool unaided without using steps or ladders (where venue design permits).

Candidates must be 16 years old or above at the time of taking the NRASTC final assessment.

NRASTC LIGHT is a supervision and rescue award for swimming teachers, coaches and/or instructors working during programmed activities, such as swimming lessons. This award is only suitable when the facility has additional staff qualified as lifeguards or first aiders who can respond quickly to a swimming teacher or coach in an emergency. If a lifeguard or first aid backup is unavailable, the standard NRASTC should be used.

The NRASTC LIGHT is delivered over 6 hours (one day) the knowledge and skills and assessed formally by an external assessor at the end of the course.

Through a combination of theory and interactive hands-on practical training this course covers the following topics:

  • The teacher, swimming pool, and class management
  • Intervention rescue
  • Emergency action
  • CPR and drowning/effects of drowning

Due to the physical demands of this course prerequisites are as follows:

  • Swim a minimum of 50 metres on your front and back
  • Surface dive to the deepest part of the pool
  • Climb out of the pool unaided without using steps or ladders (where venue design permits).

Candidates must be 16 years old or above at the time of taking the NRASTC LIGHT final assessment.

This Level 2 course is designed for those who work specifically as a pool lifeguard and could be required to perform pool rescue techniques including spinal injury management, administering first aid or performing CPR in a poolside emergency. This qualification may be a mandatory requirement for swimming pools where it has been identified that constant poolside supervision is required to meet their health and safety responsibilities.

Through a combination of theory and interactive hands-on practical training this course covers the following topics:

  • Understanding the Role of a Pool Lifeguard
  • Understand the Health and Safety Requirements for a Swimming Pool Environment
  • Understand the Practical Application of First Aid and Basic Life Support
  • Understanding and Practical Application of Pool Rescue Skills

This qualification is delivered over 37 hours (five days) the knowledge and skills are assessed by an external assessor on the final day of the course through the following:

  • Completion of a multiple-choice theory assessment paper
  • Practical demonstrations including pool rescue skills, timed swims, first aid and CPR

Due to the physical demands of this course prerequisites are as follows:

  • Candidates must be 16 years of age
  • Able to jump into deep water
  • Swim 50 metres in under 1 minute
  • Swim 100 metres on the front and 100 metres on the back without stopping
  • Tread water for 30 seconds in deep water
  • Surface dive and recover an object from the deepest part of the pool
  • Climb out of the pool unaided without using steps or ladders

This Level 2 qualification is a popular choice amongst hotels and leisure club facilities where it has been identified that constant lifeguard supervision is not required, however staff from other departments may be called upon to deal with poolside emergencies.

This qualification may also be a stepping stone to a career in lifesaving, alternatively this qualification may be taken to compliment another role.

This qualification is delivered over 16 hours (two days), the knowledge and skills are assessed by the course tutor at the end of the course through the following:

  • Completion of a multiple-choice theory assessment paper
  • Practical demonstrations.

Through a combination of theory and interactive hands-on practical training this course covers the following topics:

  • Pool rescue techniques
  • CPR and First Aid

The prerequisites for this course are as follows:

  • Candidates must be 16 years of age
  • Swim 25 metres
  • Surface dive and recover an object from the deepest part of the pool

This Level 2 qualification is a popular choice for swimming teachers who may require a lifesaving qualification to complement their role, ensuring the safety of their swimmers.

Through a combination of theory and interactive hands-on practical training this course covers the following topics:

  • Pool rescue techniques
  • CPR and First Aid

This qualification is delivered over 6 hours (one day) the knowledge and skills are assessed by the course tutor at the end of the course through the following:

  • Completion of a multiple-choice theory assessment paper
  • Practical demonstrations.

The prerequisites for this course are as follows:

  • Candidates must be 14 years of age
  • Swim 25 metres

We booked Karen to deliver first aid training to our staff and volunteers. Some attendees have learning disabilities and so the needs of the group was varied. Karen delivered the training in a way that everyone could understand. Ensuring practical activities were able to be carried out by everyone and plenty of time for questions and demonstrations. Reasonable adjustments were made to ensure some learners could complete the end exam, this included allowing someone to read the questions out to those who could not read. One person did not pass and was upset, however Karen explained that the learning they had taken part in meant they still had the skills to carry out first aid in an emergency and presented them with a certificate of participation.

Karen ran a 3 day first aid course for our staff here at Burnley leisure, she was extremely professional, knowledgeable and gave our staff a great experience, the course consisted of a mixture of practical and theory lessons that were both educational and fun, we will continue to use Karen for many many years to come.

Karen’s first-aid training was well-structured and taught with both practical and theory based learning. The theory was presented via PowerPoint, which is useful for visual learners like myself! There was an element of group-work, which helped everyone confidently share ideas. The equipment used for the practical element of the course was modern and well-maintained, which allowed for realistic practice. Would recommend Karen for first- aid training!

I attend monthly lifeguard training with Karen and couldn’t recommend her highly enough. She makes every session engaging, professional, and easy to follow. Karen clearly has a lot of knowledge and experience, and she explains skills and scenarios in a way that really builds confidence in the water and on poolside. Karen is both an amiable and professional Assessor. Communication was always quick and informative so plans for the assesment were in place in good time. I recently completed a 5-day course with KH Training and it was absolutely brilliant from start to finish.
